Public transport
There are three daily train services from Melbourne to Warrnambool and return and also bus/coach services running from Warrnambool to Ballarat, Hamilton and Mount Gambier. Helicopters and light aircraft can be chartered from Warrnambool and a Hamilton-Portland- Melbourne and return air passenger service operates once a day.
There are other centres with small airstrips throughout the area ie Cobden, Colac, and Ballarat. Most of the towns and cities within the region also have access to a taxi service. The larger cities have a good network of public transport throughout their boundaries.
