24/04/10 - Dairy Awards Winners - The Warakirri Dairies farm at Jancourt East has double reason to celebrate after winning both major employment awards in the 2010 Great South West Dairy Awards. Rob Burbury, the executive officer of Warakirri Dairies P/L, was tonight named Ambleside Financial Planning Employer of the Year.
24/04/10 - Photo of the Year Winners - The idyllic nature of farming, future generations of farmers and the characters who inhabit the industry have caught the eyes of judges in the first Great South West Dairy Awards dairy farm photo competition. An image of a jersey cow idling in a dam while other members of the herd graze on a lush green paddock around a windmill has won first prize in the Gardiner Foundation Best Farm Photo competition.
20/04/10 - Awards Sold Out - The Great South West Dairy Awards attracted record nominations this year...and now they have attracted record numbers to the awards ceremony. The Gala Awards night at the Warrnambool Entertainment Centre on April 22 is now sold out with 270 people expected to attend.
23/03/10 - NCDEA joins awards program - Graduates from the National Centre for Dairy Education Australia in south-west Victoria will be recognised publicly for the first time as part of the 2010 Great South West Dairy Awards.About 40 graduates will be involved in the presentation ceremony at the Warrnambool Entertainment Centre on April 22.
11/03/10 - Record Nominations - A record 48 nominations have been lodged for the 2010 Great South West Dairy Awards...and that’s not including more than 100 entries in a new farm photo competition. The number of nominations has almost doubled last year’s tally and points to a robust industry and a growing acceptance of the Awards as a premier event for dairying in south-west Victoria.
1/03/10 - New Major Sponsor - The Great South West Dairy Awards have been boosted after securing major sponsorship for the Employer of the Year Award. Ambleside Financial Planning has signed on as the major naming rights sponsor for the top award on the program, the Best Employer.
3/02/10 - Dairy Awards Farm Photography Category - The old adage that a photo says a thousand words is coming true with a new segment in the 2010 Great South West Dairy Awards. Amateur photographers are finding a wide variety of images to highlight the beauty – and the fun - of farming in the region with their entries in the Farm Photo of the Year award.
17/01/10 - Dairy Awards Nominations Open - Farmers, their staff and dairy service providers in south-west Victoria can now nominate for the region’s most prestigious industry awards. Nominations for the Great South West Dairy Awards opened on January 15 and will close February 19 and the introduction of new categories promises to attract a record number of entries.

18/12/09 - Dairy Awards - The role of share farmers in the south-west Victorian dairying community will be recognised for the first time with a new category in the Great South West Dairy Awards. The Share Farmer of the Year title is one of three new awards to be introduced in 2010, along with the Young Farm Leader (YDDP) Award and the Best Farm Photo competition.

11/11/09 - Images of farms in south-west Victoria will be captured for prosperity in a new segment to be introduced to the Great South West Dairy Awards in 2010. A photo competition will be included in the program next year as organisers hope to highlight the outstanding physical attributes of Western Victorian farms and the beauty of farming in the region.
Employment Awards
A long-term farmer from Nirranda and a recent import from Zimbabwe have won south-west Victoria’s major dairy industry employment awards. At the 2009 Great South West Dairy Awards presentation on April 23 Nirranda farmer Wayne Parsons was named Employer of the Year from runner-up John Kuriger. Ishmael Rupanga, of Mepunga, became Employee of the Year from Grant Drummond, of Cooriemungle, who was runner-up.
Natural Resource Management Award (NRM)
A proactive approach to environmental improvement by Ecklin South farmers Mike and Dawne Waite has earned them top natural resource honours in the 2009 Great South West Dairy Awards.
Innovation Award
An old wool press was the inspiration behind Brian Antony’s winning invention in the 2009 Great South West Dairy Awards.
Joke of the Year
A joke about a farm dog, the number six and a Kiwi accent has earned Jeff Lawes the honour of having the best farm joke in south-west Victoria.
Glen Flood admits that without the dairy industry he would struggle in his chosen profession. One of Australia's best known chefs, Glenn says dairy products form the back bone of menu of his best recipes and menus. Now Glenn will be playing his part for the industry as Guest Speaker and MC for the Great South West Dairy Awards on April 23.
Two of south-west Victoria’s premier dairy awards are joining forces. For the first time the south-west regional finalists of the Dairy Business of the Year award will be announced as part of the Great South West Dairy Awards on April 23.
Fifteen farmers will compete for this year’s Great South West Dairy Awards with the announcement today of the finalists in each major section. In addition to the regular categories, a further 11 finalists will joke it out for the Pull The Other One farm joke of the year award.
